As the Editor of First Look, I get the awesome opportunity to be a part of the creative meetings that morph and shape their way into the curriculum you see each month. I have to tell you that our creative meeting for December was one of my ABSOLUTE favorites! I think you’ll be extremely pleased with the activities that our writers have come up with to help you teach your preschoolers that God loved us so much that He gave us Jesus. And there’s no better time to celebrate that with preschoolers than Christmas! So, here’s a little glimpse of what’s to come.
The Bible Stories this month will start with the angel that visits Mary to tell of God’s plan for her to carry and give birth to Jesus (in preschool terms, no less). Next, we’ll see Mary and Joseph travel to Bethlehem, look for a room and finally land in a stable just in time for Jesus to be born. How exciting! In Week Three, the news of Jesus’ birth will be shared with the shepherds out in the field, and in Week Five with the Wise Men.
What about Week Four, you ask? Well, that week is nothing short of a huge CELEBRATION! That’s right, the Sunday before Christmas we’ve planned out a Birthday Party for Jesus for you to enjoy with your preschoolers—complete with party hats and cupcakes for all! I’m so excited for you guys, I can’t even stand it!
We created the “Manger Scene” tab on the curriculum matrix that is full of great ideas and images for you to use for your weekly Bible Story review as well as your Bible Story/Large Group space. Make sure you read through all that is available there as soon as possible.
Don’t even get me started on the First Look Pinterest Page and ALL of the crafts that we have for you! It’s a craft-a-palooza to rival any month we’ve ever done! When the December page goes live, you’ll want to be the first one on the scene to check out the tutorials and inspirations for some of the crafts that we’ve posted.
I hope you’re as excited as I am because December is going to be an AMAZING time to spend with your preschoolers! I can’t wait for you to share this very special time of year with them.
