This summer I had the privilege of experiencing my first Camp KidJam! The anticipation had me feeling like a kid again. I was giddy! I did not know what to expect but I had heard so many great things!
The theme this year was Turn It Up and I think that is exactly what took place! I feel like everything was kicked up a notch and taken to the next level! The music and worship was spectacular, the Bible stories, Host sketches, and dramas where deep and impactful, and the games and team cheers were crazy fun and “loud, louder, loudest.”
Everything was turned up, and not just for the kids and the counselors who attended, but for each intern, volunteer and staff member! We turned up the passion dial!
PASSION: I exist every day to demonstrate God’s love to a broken world.
Passion can be defined as
- Restoration: God designed me to participate with Him in restoring a broken world.
- Compassion: My faith in Christ is marked by my compassion and care for others.
What an incredible thing to witness students of high school and college age giving of their time, energy, and God-given talents to serve children in Jesus’ name!
“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart working for the Lord,” Colossians 3:23.
To me, this is what investing in the next generation should look like: Offering them the opportunity to serve and take a part in something that is bigger then themselves. If this is the level of excellence we are offering in children’s ministry these days I am only filled with hope for the future generations to come!
I can’t wait to see what next year will hold! I hope you and your team can get there. Or better yet, consider signing up some of your teens to be interns. It might be the most life changing experience they have ever had!
